Thank You

On behalf of the children and staff at Bel Air and myself I would like to thank everyone who has made donations to support the home. Whether this support came in the form of money, gifts or time is irrelevant and it is always very much appreciated. I am hugely grateful that so many people have decided to consider the children at Bel Air and work towards improving their health, welfare, happiness and education.

August 2007

  • With financial support from the 1st term Veterinary students, class of August 2007 I was able to purchase a TV for the nursery. Particular thanks must go to Phil Fico who made a substantial donation and to Jacob Mooneyham for building a beautiful cabinet for the TV.

October 2007

  • Virginia Jurgens kindly donated an iron, soap, bed covers and other house hold items.

December 2007

  • I am extremely grateful to the staff of Glovers restaurant, in particular Molly and Justin for providing the catering for the party in the park organised for the children by the Grenada Bikers Club and myself. I must be commend the club for supplying such wonderful music, a bouncy castle and BBQ all of which were a huge hit with the children

  • I am so delighted that the Christmas Angel programme was a success, and it would not have been possible without the support of the following people who spent used their time and money to ensure each child had a personalised gift to open at Christmas; John Gaboian, Carla Sands, Carissa Jones, Rebecca Goldman, Marife Ocasio, Robert Plourde, Amanda and Roberto Cediel, Steve Kaylor,  Jess de Simone, Lisa Capello, Katie Tretter, Raye Taylor Volkes, Thomas Hanson, Tristan Menze, Laynne Weinman.

  • John Ayers and Thomas Hanson must know that I am extremely grateful for the financial contribution they made towards the purchasing of gifts and wrapping paper for the Christmas Angel program

January 2008

  • I would like to say a huge thank you to Zahra Noble, her friends and family for the enormous donation of clothes. The outfits are beautiful and I am sure that the children will be delighted! I will be posting pictures shortly

  • Sarah Weldon very kindly considered Bel Air when she managed to get hold of over 1000 catheter bags and an ambi bag. Although the Bel Air home can not use these items I will donate them to the local hospital on behalf of the home in exchange for a medical treatment.

  • I am very happy to announce that in a recent concert produced by Paul Wilman and the Edinburgh Military band £500 was raised for One Health, One Medicine.  The concert was kindly hosted by the Cannongate Kirk Church, and I am extremely grateful to the band members, parishioners and congregation for their time and effort, by all accounts the concert was brilliant and very much enjoyed by all who attended.

To all of you who have participated in the tutoring programme, I want you to know that I am eternally grateful for the time you spend with the children. By helping improve their education you will be working towards ensuring that they have the option of continuing their studies at school and widening their job prospects. In addition to improving their education the time you spend with them helps to improve their confidence and self esteem as well as their communication and social skills. Please continue the excellent work you do with as much zeal this year and I am sure we will be able to see the older girls through their common entrance exams and teach more of the children to read and tell the time

March 2008

  • A very special thank you to Josh Ames, Laura Wilmore, Brittany King and all the members of SAVMMA who worked so hard to make the Pet Pageant such a success. Together we raised £310, I could not have done it without you, your support was invaluable. I would like to thank Thomas Hanson for being so kind and paying for all of the children from Bel Air who attended the show to have a BBQ meal and drink.
