Since 2008 One Health One Medicine has been providing medical care to children living in poverty in Grenada. We have funded visits to hospitals in Trinidad and Barbados for surgery and consultations with specialist Doctors in addition to funding surgeries at the general hospital in Grenada. The charity regularly purchases medications for children with on going medical conditions and specially formulated diets for babies and children with nutritional deficiencies. We have supported Dr Nelson and her team at the general hospital by providing funding for ultrasound and MRI scans to aid the diagnostic process. At the request of Dr Nelson and Sister Francis (Head of Child Welfare) we have allocated funds for counselling with the islands most respected child psychologist and a number of children referred by Dr Nelson issues have benefited from this service. In addition the charity has provided food, clothes, toys, books, educational supplies and many other items to support the development of children in the community.

Medical care in the Caribbean is relatively inexpensive when compared to the UK and USA and frequently the charity will be able to negotiate a reduced rate from Doctors and hospitals, this means that all the money donated really does go a very long way and enables us to fund numerous procedures and sponsor more children.

The charity continues to be limited by a lack of committed volunteers who can be trusted to keep all information regarding the children confidential and manage the payments for expensive medical procedures. If you know anyone who is able to support One Health One Medicine by donating their time please encourage them to get in contact
